Why I consider myself an expert in Prestashop
I came into Prestashop almost by chance, when Nohemi asked me to help him in the creation of your first business website and When the 0.9.7 version appeared Final (Yes, you have read).
It was then the beginning of the year 2008 and on electronic commerce not much heard although it was very commented that many people made it rich selling things on the internet; It was when they began to appear the so-called Gurus of Internet (although this topic deserves an exclusive post).
At that time I only had clear I had to specialise in something between Dreamweaver, Flash (Yes, Flash... many years ago this), Oscommerce, Prestashop, Zen Cart, Wordpress, Joomla, etc, frankly, did not know in what focus.
I was discarding systems and I focused on developing web application using Dreamweaver to myself (thus had no limits), though still sideways the Prestashop team. At this time devoted an average of 10 hours a day to develop and enhance web applications with Dreamweaver and about 2 or 3 hours a day to keep up with the evolution and the Prestashop core.
At the beginning of 2010 (Prestashop walked with versions 1.2. x), I realized that could not improve my applications at the same speed as the Prestashop team, since they had a great community that helped them to find the so-called Bugs or failures of programming. Years ago, I wondered why as complex as Prestashop and useful applications were free (I took hundreds of hours to create features that they gave away!); at that moment I realized that, when a product is free, the product is you (the Prestashop community is the major product of this software).
Since that time I focused all my projects to the development by Prestashop, and when I say to Prestashop is only to Prestashop. Many friends asked me to modify them a Wordpress or a Joomla and I always answered them the same thing: "I flatly refuse, do not consider myself a connoisseur of these applications and I think, to do quality work, you should know very well how each application is programmed" (and much time is needed for this).
Being very modest, I estimate that I have worked with Prestashop 3,000 hours per year. This means that, as of today, I have already surpassed 10,000 hours and, therefore, according to the psychologist Anders Ericsson , I am already a expert in Prestashop.
The study of Anders Ericsson is based on an experiment conducted in the 1990s whose conclusion is that, in addition to talent, are needed at least 10,000 hours of practice to be able to be considered an expert in something.
Sometimes it was hard to have to reject work that apparently were simple and profitable, but thanks to the dedication and perseverance that my parents instilled in me, today I can say that it has been my best choice.
Personally, I admire Web agencies who are able to work with multiple applications and have no problems if the client uses a Wordpress, Joomla or a Prestashop; they must be very good professionals ;)
Alabaz Web our Director Nohemi has it very clear: can only meet Prestashop projects since, with another application, we could not ensure the quality that our clients deserve.
